31.3 U.S. Portraits, Women

Hills Examination / Opinion
Examination date(s): 2017-08-15
Examination notes: Hills opinion letter: "...beautifully executed with a combination of techniques typical of Johnson. The background is thinly and freely brushed with tones of brown. The features are delicately painted with deft touches of highlights on her gray eyes. There is some outlining along the outer edges of the lips and along the nose. The light/dark tonal values on her face are true."
