44.2 Euro Portrait Drawings, Men, Unidentified

The men in these portraits have not yet been identified by name. However, the drawings are known or believed to have been done in Europe based on evidence including their inscriptions, clues to the sitters' identities, and the appearance of the sitters and style of the drawings when images are available. Johnson studied and worked in Europe (in Düsseldorf, The Hague, and briefly in Paris) from 1849 to 1855. —AM
