However, the drawings are known or believed to have been done in the United States, after Johnson returned from Europe in late 1855, based on factors including their inscriptions and the appearance of the sitters and style of the drawings when images are available. —AM

Description / Remarks
MacGibeny, 2022: This drawing was known only as Head of a Young Woman until August 2019, when an oil portrait of the same sitter, inscribed "Nora" on the verso, was consigned to Brunk Auctions, Asheville, North Carolina. The name has been given to this drawing, although the sitter's full identity is not known.
